One of the NRL’s most popular fixtures, the NRL All Stars v Indigenous All Starts match will return to Suncorp Stadium in 2016.
It will be the sixth contest since 2010, with no game in 2014 due to the Auckland Nines.
The game will keeps its usual mid-February timeslot (Saturday 13 February). The last time Brisbane hosted the match was in 2013, with the Indigenous AS winning 32-6.
Created by Preston Campbell, it’s quickly become a fixture of the NRL calendar.
With all the controversy surrounding Adam Goodes, it’s important to establish sport’s ability to care for its community. The passion of the Indigenous players ensures a willing contest. It’s also a chance to trial new rules. It also gives players who don’t qualify for Origin (like Benji Marshall) to play.
Hopefully a big crowd will turn up to Suncorp next February to celebrate the impact of our Indigenous players.
